Chromium assists with the metabolism of sugars and with regular exercise, chromium assists to metabolise complex carbohydrates and cholesterol. Chromium stimulates and increases the scavenging of LDL (low density lipoproteins). It may also assist in lowering total blood cholesterol levels by preventing cholesterol accumulation in arteries. It may be beneficial in improving the HDL/LDL ratio by increasing HDL levels.
As we age, the amount of chromium stored within the body declines. Exercise also depletes chromium stores with hard exercise increasing the rate of chromium metabolism. Chromium assists in the facilitation of the transport of amino acids into muscles to assist with building new tissue.
